Cesarini Jam Session 4.1 – Valter Vincenti 4tet and cool handmade guitars

Cesarini Jam Session Season 4.1 in the company of:

  • Valter Vincenti, guitar (Cesarini “C-Reptilia” – C-Shapely Cesarini Pickups)
  • Lusi, bass (Cesarini “C-Gold Bronze“, Cesarini Vintage Series)
  • Saverio Federici, drum
  • Special Guest: Luca Ravagni, sax (Giorgio Gaber)

“Ussa and al bene così” extract from Valter Vincenti “Colors” , filming takes place at “One More Dub studio” the cave studio in Orvieto (Umbria).

The recording takes place through collective direct shooting, with metronome (given the use of a base composed of atmospheric sounds). Valter uses Orange amplifier and Costa Lab pedals, Lusi Proamp amplification and no effect. Great special guest is the fourth man, Luca Ravagni, saxophone by Giorgio Gaber.

Wax potting pickups on a C-Big Beat, some notes

In the picture there is our C – Big Beat, Cesarini Vintage style humbucker pickups, winded with 0.050 mm thread. This pickup necessarily needs wax potting, since it would give, with the use of distortion, a series of particularly audible problems, even in a low-volume performance. With the comed era of Hi-fi and new Hi-end amp equipment solution, shielding PU it become a must on the production process. Gibson 59 or other famous pickups didn’t have that, but amplification and audio solutions were really different at the time.

(HERE C-BIG Beat – Stefano Mincone AUDIO TEST)

There would be a lot to say about the waxing (shielding) of a pickup. We leave the most accurate description to another post.  We use to waxing pot pickups on every Cesarini model and on restorations, we use paraffin cause it’s liquid state point it’s less dangerous than beeswax.

Musica e Liuteria, Lusi and C – Fodera Wooten bass

We are at Liuteria Cesarini, Atelier & Custom Shop.
Lusi is trying our C – Wooten bass five strings bass, tribute to Classic Monarch Fodera aged. We had modified a lot the original model.
C-Wooten is a Cesarini MY Guitar custom project, replica not in all parts.

You can sell all our video “Musica e Liuteria”, on the Youtube page here.

Lusi is playing an interpretation of “Amazing Grace”, that is a Christian hymn published in 1779 already rearranged like that by Victor Wooten.

Lusi is playing with really low action.
Inside we have created a passive/active circuit.

Alborosie, a guitar man?

Alborosie comes back to Jamaica with a little gift!

The sound of this guitar (Eko, artisan production), which mounts the C-Big Beat (Cesarini Pickups) seems to have impressed him. Valter Vincenti, his guitarist and our dear friend, should have finished the tour with this guitar, but we will find a solution for him!

These are things that can not be predicted … he told me he felt in love!

We took a picture togheter in Bologna, both for the memory and for the satisfaction. See you soon Alborosie!

Valter Vincenti – endorsement and italian guitars

I have recommended the C-Big Beat for Valter Vincenti new EKO endorsement, which will play during the 2016 tour of Alborosie. To be mounted on the eko “Aqua” model.

Today, a day to find the “voice” of Valter Vincenti. We found something at the end! Our relationship is consolidated, after having met us in the laboratory for a simple maintenance, a musical collaboration is tightened.

In the meanwhile we are thinking about the now ready C-MOP lp vintage series ’70 guitar, for Alborosie 2017 tour. Valter definetely likes italian guitars.

I want to remind myself that the endorsers are very useful to makers, not so much for the commercial promotion of the product (through clinic or video), but more than anything else to understand the timbric tastes of the period and to test the instruments.

The exasperated marketing of the products, through a musician who often does not even know the subject well or who in any case does not really feel a feeling with what he is playing, has always turned out to be sterile. Another thing is the test of a musician who knows the instrument, has played it, brought it in the tuor. It is possible to listen to Valter in Cesarini Jam Session 4.2, where he plays with C-Big Beat, Cesarini Pickups.

Pickup for Double Bass, luthier choice

On another page of the blog I listed several piezo / pickup systems for double bass, which have pros and cons to examine carefully. Here I report only a live test, of our PC-DB low gain version. Giacomo Rossetti plays with piezo Pc-Db mounted on C – Double Face.

Negrita – Che Tempo Che Fa (Monnalista – Graziani I.)

This is Negrita live in Che tempo che fa is in effect a test, given that it is one of the first piezo I made, a near prototype. It seems to have gone just fine.

C-Gold Bronze, vintage bass guitars (Cesarini Vintage Series ’60)

C-Gold Bronze
C-Gold Bronze

Cesarini Vintage Series is the collection of our vintage assembled instruments. Restored parts, which were part of vintage instruments from the 60s – 70s and 80s, come back together to constitute an entire philological guitar or bass guitar, which we then optimized to the best of its potential.

Vintage pickup per basso

The C-Gold Bronze pickups have been restored, very particular and very quiet, which give the bass a full sound between the single coil and the precision, a formidable attack given the ceramic magnet and a very pleasant nasality given by the metal mask type PAF Gibson.

The cable was interrupted, so we only rebuilt the coil and redone the already existing beeswax shield (wax potting).

The varnish is Cesarini Sienna Burst, that is a Fender sunburst with a glossy open pore.

The detailes of our vintage bass guitars is at this page (learn more).
